UFC fighter Sean O’Malley (12-1)

MMA fighters are savages. They are the best athletes on planet earth and — as human beings — have an extensive set of interests. Who are they as people? What makes them tick? What does each athlete have in common with the fans that cheer them on? This series fills in those blanks and gets to the heart of the matter while exploring what makes your favorite fighters who they are.

“Sugar” Sean O’Malley is one of the most exciting and talented fighters in all of the UFC. He has it all, in and outside of the octagon.

O’Malley came on most fan’s radar when he competed on season one of Dana White’s Contender Series. He knocked out his opponent in the first round with one punch. After the fight, Dana White said, “I’m looking for someone who had that ‘thing,’ and Sean O’Malley is that thing.”

O’Malley was signed to the UFC and made his debut later that year. He went 2-0, putting on fun, must-watch performances. “Sugar” returned in 2020 from a two-year layoff due to an Anti-Doping Policy violation. He fought José Alberto Quiñónez at UFC 248 on March 7th and won the fight via TKO in the first round. This win earned him his first Performance of the Night award.

It is no secret, O’Malley is a superstar in the making. His fight on “Dana White’s Contender Series” has 5.6 million views on YouTube, his free fight against Wineland has 1.4 million, and just about anything the UFC releases on YouTube about O’Malley gets over 500 thousand views.

His Instagram has grown massively in 2020, he has 1.1 million followers.

O’Malley made his second appearance of 2020 at UFC 250, where he kicked off the pay-per-view against UFC veteran Eddie Wineland. He knocked him out with one punch, which turned out to be one of the best knockouts of the year.

O’Malley suffered his first professional loss at UFC 252 against Marlon Vera and will be looking to rebound at UFC 260.

‘The Sugar Show’ returns against Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 on March 27, 2021.
